Our office is at Plot 5008 in Jaisav Place, right in the middle of Bazar Sirkiwalan. Hauz Qazi is a very crowded part of town and it takes some patience just to get through the narrow lanes in the morning. The building itself has been around for quite a while and has that old-world feel to it. We have heavy wooden doors and floors that have seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. Every morning starts with dusting off the ledgers and the computers because the city dust finds its way into everything. We sit at our desks and work through the various files that pile up. It is a very traditional way of doing business here. We talk to the same delivery people and neighbors every day. Sometimes we share snacks when someone brings something from home. The lighting isn't the brightest but we have desk lamps to help out. We don't really use much technology beyond what is necessary for the basic work. It is more about the people and the long hours we spend here making sure the numbers and the names match up. You can hear the sounds of the market all day long, from the carts rattling to the vendors shouting their prices. It’s just how life goes in this part of the city.
