We are located at 4 Rashid Market, right near the Gurudwara. It’s a lively spot with a lot of foot traffic and people moving about all day long. Being so close to the Gurudwara means we always have a sense of the community around us. Our business, M K Batra & Co, has been a part of this street for a long time. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful with how we stack our stock. It can get a bit crowded when we have a few deliveries coming in at once. We don't have any polished floors or bright neon lights. It’s just a standard storefront where we get our work done. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us for years. They know our names and we know theirs. We talk about the weather or the local news while we handle the business side of things. It’s a very informal atmosphere. Sometimes we’re a bit slow to answer the phone if we’re busy with someone in the shop, but we always try to get back to everyone. We aren't trying to expand into some massive corporation. We’re happy right here in Rashid Market, just being a reliable place for the people who need what we provide. It’s a decent way to make a living and keep busy. We just keep the door open and wait for the next person to walk in.
