Shakti Lace India Limited

You can find us right at I -47 Lajpat Nagar- 1, just opposite the railway station. It’s a busy corner of the world. You can hear the trains pulling in and out all day long, and the passengers are always rushing past. Shakti Lace India Limited is where we handle all the different threads and lace patterns. The machines make a steady humming sound that you get used to after a week or two. We have rolls of lace stacked up almost to the ceiling in some parts of the room. It’s a lot of detail work, looking at the small gaps in the patterns. Sometimes the thread snaps and we have to stop and fix it, which can be annoying. The light from the front window is okay, but we usually have the big overhead lights on so we can see what we are doing. Being across from the station means there is always someone knocking on the door or asking for directions. We just keep at it, winding the lace and getting orders ready. It’s an old building, so the stairs creak a bit. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything. Just the workspace, the tables, and the inventory. People in the area know us as the lace people. We’ve been at this address for a good while, and we just follow the same routine every morning.
