We’ve been here at 804 Chotta Bazar for a long time. It’s right in the middle of the Kashmere Gate area in Delhi. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets. There’s always someone shouting or a rickshaw bell ringing outside our door. Inside, we just keep our heads down and handle whatever paperwork or business comes through that day. It's not a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s an old building, but it works for us. Most of our day is spent talking to people who walk in or making sure the records are straight. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us making sure things run like they should. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud we have to shout over it to hear each other. Chotta Bazar is a tough place to navigate if you aren’t used to it. We know the tea stall guy around the corner pretty well by now. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks to outsiders. It’s about getting the job done. Delhi-6 has a certain way of doing things, and we’ve just become part of that fabric over the years. We open up in the morning, deal with the heat or the cold depending on the season, and go home when the work is finished. It’s simple. We have a small stack of newspapers on the side table that mostly just collect dust because we are too busy to read them. That's just how life goes in Chotta Bazar.
