We are located in a D.D.A. flat in Kalkaji, specifically L- 1/135- A. It isn’t like a regular shop you’d see on a main street. It’s a residential block, so it feels more like a home than an office. We have samples of wallpaper, tiles, and fabric swatches taking up most of the living room area. There are catalogs piled on the chairs and measuring tapes draped over the tables. Usually, we are busy drawing out plans or talking on the phone with suppliers. The flat gets nice sunlight in the morning, which helps when we are trying to look at colors. It is a bit of a climb to get up here, but it is a good workout. We know all the neighbors, and they are used to seeing people come in and out with rolls of blueprints or boxes of samples. Sometimes the kitchen table becomes our main desk when the other ones get too cluttered. It’s a bit informal, but it works for us. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the bell rings, one of us just gets up to open the door. It is a simple setup where we focus on getting the measurements right and making sure we haven't lost our pencils. Working from a flat means things are a little more relaxed, even when we are busy with a deadline. It is just how we run things.
