Over here at New Mahavir Nagar, the streets can get pretty narrow, especially Street No. 1. Creative Fashion Creaters Pvt. Ltd. is right in the middle of it. Janakpuri is a lively area, so there is always noise from outside while we are trying to cut patterns. We have a few big tables where the master tailors do their thing. It’s not a shiny corporate office or anything like that. It’s mostly rolls of fabric and people talking over the sound of sewing machines. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but we just wait it out and get back to work. We’ve been at this address, Fz-7, for a good bit of time now. Most of the people working here live close by, so it feels like a small community. We don’t spend much time on fancy decorations; we just focus on the garments sitting in front of us. If you come by, you’ll see piles of samples and stacks of boxes ready to go out. The tea man comes around twice a day, which is when everyone actually takes a break. Otherwise, it’s just the hum of the work. It’s hard work, and your back can hurt after a long shift, but seeing a finished piece makes it okay. We do what we can to make sure everything fits right before it leaves the room, and then we start the next batch.
