Indian Abrasives Company

Our place is on B Main in the B. M. Sankarappa Estate. It is right off Magadi Main Road in Sunkadakatte. If you know the area, you know it can get pretty busy with all the traffic heading out of the city toward the highway. We work with abrasives, so there is always a bit of grit in the air and on the floors. It is just part of the job. We have machines for cutting and shaping, and they make a fair bit of noise when they’re running. Most of us have been here for years, so we’ve seen the estate change quite a bit as new people move in. We don't have a fancy showroom or a lobby. If you come by, you’ll just see the workshop and the guys busy with their tasks. We focus on getting the orders right and making sure the products are solid. It isn't the kind of work you do if you want to stay perfectly clean all day, but it’s satisfying to see things get made. We talk to the other shop owners in Sunkadakatte and sometimes share a tea during the breaks. It has a local feel. We don't bother with big slogans or trying to sound like we are something we aren't. We make abrasives, and we’ve been doing it long enough to know what works for our customers. The sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon, but we just keep at it.
