Our office is in West Patel Nagar, which is one of those places in Delhi that never seems to sleep. Being at C-136 puts us right in the middle of everything. The streets are narrow and always crowded with rickshaws and people walking to the metro station. Inside, it is a bit calmer, though the phone rings pretty much constantly. We do a lot of back-office work here. It is a lot of data entry and talking to people over the headsets. The walls are a bit thin, so you can always hear the traffic outside or the neighbor’s TV. We do not have much in the way of decor, just some calendars and a few old plants that someone forgets to water. The lighting is a bit bright, the kind of fluorescent bulbs that flicker sometimes. We take turns going down to the street to get samosas or tea when we need a break. It is a tight-knit group here because the office isn't that big. You get to know everyone's habits pretty quickly. Sometimes the monsoon rains flood the street a little, and we have to hop over big puddles to get to the entrance. It is a typical Delhi setup, nothing fancy, just people getting their work done and waiting for the weekend. We do not really have a big reception area, so if you walk in, you are basically standing right in the middle of our workspace. That is just how the space is laid out.
