You can find us right at the Kapashera Village Delhi Border. Being on the border means there is always a lot of traffic and heavy trucks passing by at all hours of the night. It is a dusty spot, and the noise from the horns never really stops. We deal with all sorts of batteries here, mostly for cars and those big invertors people use when the power fails. The shop is small, and there is usually a stack of old batteries sitting out front waiting to be picked up. We get a lot of people stopping by because their car died right as they were crossing into Delhi. It is a lot of lifting and moving heavy lead boxes, so your hands stay pretty dirty most of the day. We have a small bench where we test the voltage and top up the distilled water. It is not the cleanest job, but people need their power. The air is thick with the smell of acid and exhaust fumes from the road. Sometimes we just sit on the bench outside when it’s slow and watch the traffic jam build up. It is a practical business, nothing more. We just try to get the batteries charged and back into the vehicles as fast as we can.
