You’ll find Gopal Art Shop over at 11-M in the Bhagat Singh Market. It’s a lively place to be, and there is always something going on outside our door. Inside, it’s a bit different. We have all sorts of supplies and pieces of art crammed into the space. It’s not organized like those big chain stores; it has its own kind of logic that only we really understand. If you need something specific, you usually have to ask, and we’ll know exactly which pile it’s at the bottom of. We’ve been part of the market for a long time. We’ve seen kids grow up and start coming in for their own supplies. It makes you feel a bit old, but it’s nice too. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing person. Most people find us because they were walking through the market and saw our sign. We like it that way. It keeps things personal. We talk to the artists, the students, and the hobbyists who stop by. Everyone has a different project they’re working on, and it’s interesting to hear about them. We aren’t trying to be some high-end gallery. We’re just a shop in the market where you can get what you need for your work. It’s dusty and crowded, but it’s our place, and we’re happy to be here at 11-M every day doing what we do.
