If you go to Nehru Place in Delhi, you know it’s crowded. Our office is in Raja House, rooms 503 and 504. GEEP BATTERIES (INDIA) PVT. LTD. has its base here among all the computer shops and tech businesses. Being on the fifth floor gives us a bit of a view, though it’s mostly just other rooftops and cables. Batteries are what we know. It’s not the most exciting thing to talk about at a party, but everyone needs them. We spend a lot of time checking inventory and talking to distributors across the country. The office gets a bit cramped when new stock details come in. Sometimes the lift in Raja House is slow, so we end up taking the stairs. It’s good exercise, I guess. We aren’t trying to be some giant tech giant. We just provide what people ask for. The team here is small, just a few of us who have known each other for years. We eat lunch together most days, usually getting something from the stalls downstairs. Delhi heat is no joke in the summer, but the office stays okay. We don’t have any fancy mission statements on the walls. Just some calendars and piles of folders. We just show up, do the work, and head home. It’s a straightforward business, really. No need to overcomplicate things when you’re just trying to keep the lights on and the customers happy. It is a lot of work but we like it here.
