Kashmere Gate is a mess most days. If you’ve ever been down to Chabhi Ganj, you know exactly how it goes with the traffic and the constant noise from the street outside. Our place, Frontier Auto Impex Pvt. Ltd., is tucked away in the basement of Pradhan House. We are in Office No. 52. It’s not the easiest office to find if you’re new to this part of town, but most of the local guys around here know where we are. The stairs going down are a bit steep and narrow, and the lighting in the hallway isn’t always the best, but once you get inside the office, it’s alright. We have stacks of papers and old parts catalogs all over the desks. It gets pretty hot in the summer, though we have the ceiling fans going all day long to keep the air moving. Dealing with auto imports and exports means we spend a lot of time on the phone or checking lists. Sometimes the tea man from the corner comes by with his tray and we take a quick five-minute break. It’s a busy spot, and there’s always someone coming in to ask about a specific part or some paperwork. We’ve been in this basement for quite a while now. It feels like home even with the damp walls and the sound of horns from the road above us. We just keep things moving and get the work done.
