Our office is right there among the local shops and houses. It’s not some glass building; it’s just a regular place where we get our work done. Most days are spent handling various overseas shipments and making sure the documents are all in order. There are three of us usually in the office, and we’ve lived in this neighborhood for most of our lives. The morning routine starts with opening the shutters and clearing the dust off the desks. The fans hum all day long to keep the Delhi heat away. We deal with a lot of phone calls from people asking where their stuff is. It can get a bit loud outside with the scooters and rickshaws constantly moving through the narrow lane. We usually take a break around 2 PM for lunch, which we bring from home. Sometimes we go out to the main road for some samosas if we’re feeling tired. The internet can be a bit slow on Tuesdays for some reason, but we manage. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just basic trade and logistics support for people who need things moved abroad. It’s a lot of typing and checking lists. By the time evening rolls around, the street is packed with people buying vegetables. We usually lock up and head home once the sun goes down. It’s a long day but it’s good to be working in our own neighborhood where everyone knows us.
