About Durga Plastics – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in New Delhi
Wazirpur Industrial Area is always a busy place, and Durga Plastics at Shed 101 is right in the thick of it. The smell of melting plastic is something you get used to after a week or two. We have a couple of old machines that have been running since I can remember. They need a lot of oiling and care, but they still work fine for what we need. The space is a bit cramped because we keep a lot of scrap in the corners for recycling later. It’s mostly just a few of us working here. We wear old clothes because everything gets covered in grease and bits of plastic shavings. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break and sit on the crates outside. The lighting isn’t great, just a few long tube lights hanging from the rafters. Sometimes the neighbors complain if we run the grinder too late, so we try to finish the noisy stuff before five. There’s no big reception area or anything. If someone comes to visit, they just talk to us through the open gate. We handle the orders as they come in, mostly small batches for local traders. It’s a steady rhythm. The walls are stained with years of work, and the floor is scarred from moving heavy molds around. It’s just a regular workshop. We keep a spare set of fuses near the main switchboard just in case.
