It’s a bit tucked away, which actually makes it a lot quieter than the main road. East Patel Nagar is a busy place, so having a spot in the back portion helps us focus on all the paperwork we have to do. As a Nidhi company, we mostly work with our members on small savings and loans. It is a very regulated kind of business, so we spend a lot of time making sure everything matches the rules. The office is simple, with just the basic furniture we need to get through the day. We are right in the heart of New Delhi, but we try to keep a very local feel. People from the neighborhood come in to deposit their small savings or to talk about a loan they might need for a family event or a small shop. We don’t have any big marketing campaigns or shiny brochures. Most of our members are just regular people who live around Patel Nagar and want a place they can walk to. We drink a lot of tea and spend our hours checking the ledgers. It is a steady, slow kind of work that relies on being here every day for the people who depend on us. There are about four of us here.
