D. Sharma & Co.

Chandni Chowk is always a bit much, especially on Mondays when everyone is trying to squeeze through the lanes. D. Sharma & Co. has been operating out of Building 1496 in Bhagirath Place for quite some time now. If you know the area, you know it is mostly about electrical goods and medicine trade. We are right there in the middle of it. The Red Fort is just a stone's throw away, but honestly, we rarely have time to look at it. Most of our morning goes into opening up the shop and dusting off the desks. The walls have been painted a few times, but the old feel of the place never really goes away. We have a couple of wooden chairs that have been here since the start. It gets pretty loud outside with the rickshaws and people shouting, but once you are inside, we just focus on the invoices and the stock. There is no fancy lobby or air conditioning that works all the time. It is just a regular office where we get things done. Sometimes the electricity flickers, but that is part of life in an old market. We know the neighbors well, and we usually share tea from the stall at the corner. It is a simple way of living and working, without any big fuss or complicated systems. We just handle the business as it comes each day and try to keep things moving along.
