Our place, Controls & Switchgear Contactors Ltd., is located at 222 in the Okhla Industrial Estate. If you have ever spent time in Okhla, you know it is a huge area with all sorts of businesses packed together. We are in one of the older blocks, so our building has plenty of character, which basically means it is a bit worn down but it works for us. We have a lot of history at this particular address. The workshop floor is always humming with the sound of people putting things together. It is a bit crowded because we have a lot of stock and old equipment taking up space, but we make it work. We do not really care about the whole polished corporate look. There are grease marks on the walls and the floors have scratches from moving heavy gear around over the years. We have a small office area upstairs for the paperwork, but most of us spend our time downstairs where the actual production happens. It gets pretty warm in there during the summer months, but we have a few big fans going to keep the air moving. The traffic in Okhla is usually a nightmare in the evenings, so we try to get our shipping done as early as we can. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a showroom; we just want to make sure the parts we build are solid.
