Lodhi Tyre Shop

Lodhi Tyre Shop is situated back behind the Allahabad Bank at Scindia House in Connaught Place. Being in CP means there’s always a lot of movement, but since we are at Shop No. 2 behind the bank, it’s a little tucked away from the main road noise. The smell of rubber is pretty much everywhere inside the shop. We spend the day moving tyres around and talking to drivers who stop by. It’s physical work, getting your hands dirty and making sure everything is stacked right so nothing falls over. Connaught Place is a circle that never stops, and we’re just a small part of that. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped with all the inventory, but we manage to find what we need. Scindia House is an old building, it has its own character and some leaks when it rains hard. We don't have a fancy showroom, just the shop floor and some tools. Most people find us because they know the bank or they’ve been coming here for years. It’s hot in the summer with the sun hitting the pavement outside, but we just keep the fan going. We’ve seen plenty of cars come and go through this alleyway. It’s just us doing our job every day, nothing more to it. We keep the shop open as long as there’s work to do. Sometimes it’s late before we finally get to pull the shutters down and head home for dinner. Being behind the bank makes it quiet enough to think.
