Gulzar Optical Co. is right in the middle of Ballimaran Street. If you know Chandni Chowk, you know how crowded and loud it gets. Our shop is at No. 2359-60, and it’s been there through many changes in the neighborhood. The street is narrow, so there are always people and rickshaws squeezing past. Inside, we have rows of frames on the walls and those old-fashioned stools for people to sit on while they try things on. It’s a small space, but we make it work. Most days involve fixing hinges or cleaning lenses for customers who have had their glasses for years. We get a lot of regulars who stop by just to say hello or get a quick adjustment. The air is thick with the smell of street food from the vendors outside. We usually have a kettle going for tea in the back room. It’s not the quietest place to work, but there is always something happening. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we keep a few torches handy. We don't have any big flashy signs, just the name above the door that’s been there for a long time. People find us mostly by word of mouth or because they’ve been coming to this street since they were kids. It’s just a traditional optical shop doing things the old way without any fancy marketing or modern bells and whistles.
