Bengali Market is a busy place and our shop at 5051/5 is right in the middle of it on Netaji Subash Marg. Darya Ganj always has traffic so there are always people needing help with their wheels. We have stacks of tyres piled up inside and sometimes they spill out onto the pavement if we get a big delivery. It’s a bit of a squeeze in here. We spend most of the day with grease on our hands. It's not the cleanest job but someone has to do it. We have different sizes for cars and scooters. People stop by when they have a puncture or when the tread is getting too thin. The air compressor is quite loud so we have to shout a bit to hear each other. We’ve been at this spot for a long time now. My father started it and now I’m here. We don't use any fancy computers to check things, just our eyes and years of doing it. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings us some chai while we work on a stubborn bolt. It’s a loud, dusty part of town but we like the energy. You see all sorts of vehicles passing by. If you need air or a spare, you just pull up and we get to it as fast as we can.
