Our place is on Mata Mandir Road in Mayapuri, right at C-117 in Phase-II. If you know Mayapuri, you know it’s a place where things are always being built or taken apart for scrap. We are on the side of making things, though. The workshop is a bit old, with some stains on the walls and floors that have been there for years, but it’s where we do all the daily work. We have several rows of benches where the assembly happens. It gets quite loud because of the traffic on the road right outside, so we usually have a small radio playing to drown it out. The air is always a bit dusty, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. We handle all sorts of electromechanical parts and wiring for different projects. It’s the kind of work that makes your fingers sore by the end of a long shift. We don't have a polished corporate image; we’re just people in work clothes getting the job done. Sometimes we run out of a certain type of screw or wire, and one of us has to run out to a neighboring shop to see if they have any to spare. That’s just the way the community works in this part of town. We share a few laughs during the tea break and then get back to it. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know and how we spend our hours.
