If you’ve ever walked through these lanes, you know how narrow and packed they can be with people and shops. We’ve been operating out of this small office for a long time. The building is old, and the stairs are a bit steep and narrow, but it’s home for us and our work. We handle a lot of different things throughout the day, mostly just keeping track of ledgers and talking to people who walk in with questions. It’s not the kind of place with air conditioning or glass partitions everywhere. We have a few old wooden desks and some cupboards filled with files that have been there for years. The noise from the street outside never really stops, you hear the bikes and the rickshaws all day long. Sometimes we share tea with the neighbors while we wait for a delivery to show up or for the traffic to clear. It’s a very simple setup. We don't spend money on advertising or making things look pretty for visitors. We just do the work that comes our way. Most of our day is spent answering the phone or writing down orders by hand. It gets dusty because of all the wind, so we are always wiping down the desks. It’s just a regular local business doing what we’ve always done in Paharganj for years.
