Auto Tyre Shoppe

Working at Auto Tyre Shoppe means you get used to the smell of new rubber pretty quickly. We are over at C-1/6 in the Gurdwara Market, which is part of Green Park Extension. It’s right across from the Indian Oil Building, which is a big landmark around here. The shop is always a bit cluttered because tires take up so much room. We have them stacked in piles and hanging on the walls. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. I spend most of my day outside on the pavement or just inside the doorway. Green Park is a busy area, so there’s always a car pulling up or someone asking for directions. The floor is usually covered in some grease or bits of gravel, no matter how much we sweep it. We have an old bench where people can sit while they wait, but most people just stand around and chat with us while we work. It gets really hot in the summer months, and the sun beats down on the front of the shop, but we have a small cooler that helps a bit. We’ve been here a long time, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but our little corner of the market stays pretty much the same. It’s a lot of physical work, but it keeps us on our feet and active all day long while we serve the neighborhood.
