Asian Industries

Asian Industries is tucked away at 3498, Bajrang Bali Street in Chawri Bazar. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how packed it gets. The streets are so narrow that two people can barely pass each other sometimes. We’ve been in this building for decades. The walls are thick and have been painted so many times nobody remembers the original color. We deal in industrial supplies, mostly stuff that people can't find anywhere else. The shop is small and every inch of wall space is covered in shelves. We don't use computers for everything; a lot of our records are still in old handwritten books. It’s loud outside with the horns and the shouting of the market, but inside it’s just the smell of old paper and metal. We don't have a website that’s updated or any social media. People know us because their fathers or grandfathers did business with us. We sit on small stools and talk to customers over the counter. It’s a very old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the crowds to thin out. It’s a hard place to work because of the heat and the lack of space, but it’s home for us. We just keep doing what we’ve always done every single day.
