If you drive down the Delhi Highway, you’ll find us at Ashok Park. The business is Ashok Kumar & Co. and we’ve been here for a while now. Being right on the highway means we get a lot of noise from the big trucks passing by at all hours. It’s a very practical location for us because it’s easy to get things in and out. We don’t have a big fancy sign, just the name on the building. The office is small and usually has a lot of paperwork scattered across the desks. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the orders. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait for it to come back on, which is just part of being here. We know the other people working in Ashok Park pretty well. It’s a decent community of businesses. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk or trying to look bigger than we are. We just handle what comes in and try to get it out on time. The yard can get a bit cluttered when a big shipment arrives, so we spend time moving crates around to make room. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. The highway is always busy, so there’s never a dull moment when you’re looking out the front window at the traffic. We just keep our heads down and do the work required to keep things going.
