ARKA Design

Working near Shani Bazaar means there is never a dull moment, especially on the days the market is actually running. ARKA Design is located at 396 Khasra, and it’s a bit of a trek to get through the crowds sometimes. Our workspace is pretty simple. We have some large tables for our drawings and a few computers that seem to be always running hot. The walls are mostly bare, except for some notes pinned up here and there. It’s not the kind of design studio you see in magazines with plush sofas. We use sturdy wooden chairs and the lighting is just standard tube lights. When the bazaar is in full swing, you can hear the vendors calling out from our windows. It adds a certain energy to the place, even if it’s a bit loud for some. We usually start the morning with a round of coffee and a quick look at the sketches we left from the day before. The building itself is older, and the stairs are a bit steep, so you definitely get your exercise for the day. We’ve grown fond of this little corner near the bazaar. It feels like we are right in the middle of real life. Sometimes we get distracted by the smells of street food drifting up, but we usually manage to stay focused on the projects. It’s a practical, hardworking environment where we just focus on getting the designs right without any unnecessary fuss.
