ANKUR LIGHTINGS is the shop at E-13 in East Of Kailash. It’s a nice enough area, a mix of houses and small businesses. We have lights hanging everywhere from the ceiling and fixed to the walls. Some are modern, some are just basic fixtures we’ve had for a long time. When you turn them all on, the place gets really bright and a bit warm. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass and checking the bulbs. Dust shows up really easily on light fixtures, so it’s a constant battle with the cloth. We don't really have a big showroom feel; it’s more like a workshop where you happen to see the products. People from the nearby apartments often walk in looking for a specific type of bulb or a fitting they can’t find in the bigger stores. We have a back room where we keep the bulkier stuff and the tools for assembly. It’s usually just a couple of us here during the day. We sit on stools behind the counter and talk to whoever comes in. Sometimes we are out at a site checking how the lights look after they’ve been put up. It’s simple work, really. We just like seeing how a room changes when you get the lighting right. It’s been our daily life at this address for quite some time now, and we just keep the lights on for the neighborhood.
