Accountant Shohinee Ghosh

I’m Accountant Shohinee Ghosh, and my office is located in Pocket A 12, Flat Number 44B, over in the Kalkaji Extension area of New Delhi. It’s basically a home office setup, which I find works better for focusing on the numbers. Being in a residential pocket means it’s a bit quieter than the main markets, though you still hear the usual city sounds. I’ve been working out of this flat for several years now. The room I use is filled with boxes of files and a big desk that’s usually covered in calculators and papers. It’s not a corporate suite with a view; it’s just a room where I get things done. People usually find me by word of mouth in the neighborhood. I don’t have a big neon sign outside, just a small plate near the door. The walk up to the flat is good exercise since I'm on one of the upper floors. Sometimes the doorbell rings and it's just a delivery, but mostly it's clients coming by to drop off their receipts. I keep a pot of tea going most afternoons. It’s a simple, one-person operation for the most part, though I have help with the filing sometimes. I prefer this way of working because it’s direct and I don’t have to deal with a lot of office politics. It’s just me, the records, and the work. The neighbors are mostly families who have been here as long as I have.
