Sri Yelukuru Iron Mart

We’ve been here at 18/152 on Nehru Road for quite some time now. If you know Nehru Nagar, you probably know where the Jain Temple is, and we’re just a short walk from there. It’s a busy spot, mostly filled with the sound of iron clanging and trucks pulling up to drop off stock. My father started this place, and I just sort of took over when he got too old to lift the heavy stuff. It’s not a fancy shop, just a lot of metal rods, sheets, and whatever else people need for building houses or fixing gates. The floor is usually covered in a bit of rust dust, and there’s always a cup of tea sitting somewhere getting cold. People come in from all over the neighborhood. Sometimes they know exactly what they want, and other times we spend an hour looking for a specific piece of scrap that fits their project. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the metal, but we keep the fans going. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just know we are here because we’ve always been here. It’s hard work, moving all that weight around every day, but it’s what we do. If you pass the temple and hear someone yelling about where the tape measure went, that’s probably us. It’s just a normal local business, nothing more, nothing less.
