Site Engineer

I’m K. Prasad, the son of K. Penchlaiah, and I work as a Site Engineer based in Chinthalatmakur village. This is in the Kaluvoya Mandal of Nellore district, a place where everyone knows everyone. Working out here is different than in the big cities. You have to be more resourceful because you can’t just run to a big store if you forget something. My days are spent traveling between the village and various sites in the district. It is a lot of dirt roads and checking on small-scale projects like houses or farm structures. I don’t have a polished office or a marketing team. My work comes from people seeing what I do and trusting that I won’t steer them wrong. I try to keep the engineering simple and effective. There’s no need for complicated explanations when a person just wants to know if their roof will leak or if their walls are strong enough. I’ve lived in this part of Andhra Pradesh my whole life, so I understand the local conditions and what materials work best here. It’s hard work, often under a very hot sun, but it feels right to be contributing to my own community. I just focus on the basics, keep my promises, and make sure the buildings are built to stay. We don't have many helpers, so I'm usually doing the measuring and checking all by myself.
