Our place, Hotel Murali Krishana 70 A.C., is located right beside Leela Mahal. If you are from around here or have visited before, you know that area is quite a landmark. We’ve got seventy rooms here, and yes, the A.C. part of the name is there for a reason because it gets really hot in this part of the country. We spend a lot of our time making sure those units are actually working and not leaking water everywhere. It’s a constant battle with the heat. The building isn't brand new, but we keep it going. Being next to the Mahal means there’s always something happening outside, people walking by or cars honking. We just try to keep things quiet inside as much as we can. I usually start the day checking the register and talking to the boys who handle the cleaning. We don't have any big corporate office or anything, just us working on the ground. Some days are busier than others, especially when there’s a big event nearby. We just provide a place to sleep where you won't melt from the humidity. It’s simple work, really. We don’t try to be something we aren't. We’re just a hotel on a busy street trying to make sure the guests have a decent spot to rest their heads for the night and maybe get some relief from the sun.
