Gold World Granites

Working out of Plot No. 1 2 in the Ida Venkatachalam area means dealing with a lot of stone and heavy lifting. Gold World Granites is basically just a big yard and a small office. It’s a bit out of the way, but it works for what we do. The sound of the cutters and the trucks is pretty constant during the day. You get used to the smell of wet stone and the dust on your boots. Most of the time, we are out in the yard checking the slabs. Some of them are really heavy, so we have to be careful with the equipment. The sun hits the plot pretty hard in the afternoon, so we try to get the heavy work done early. We don't have a reception area with air conditioning or anything like that. If you want to talk, we usually just stand near the gate or sit on some crates. It’s honest work, and it’s tiring. My back usually aches by five o'clock. We have some tea around four and that helps. Venkatachalam is a busy industrial spot, so there is always movement nearby. We just focus on our plot and the granite we have to move. It is not a glamorous job, but we’ve been doing it a while now and we know the routine. We just show up and get the slabs moved as best as we can.
