Gita Hand Printers

We are based in Ummedpura, which is under the Tarapur post in the Jawad tehsil. It is out in the Neemuch district. If you are in the village, just look for the Hanuman Temple; we are right in front of it, or as we say, Hanuman Temle K Samne. Gita Hand Printers is a small operation. We do everything by hand, so it is a slow and careful process. There are ink stains on most of our clothes and probably on the floor too. The area here is quiet compared to the big cities, and we like it that way. We have been printing here for many years, following the old ways of doing things. It is not about being fast; it is about getting the patterns right on the cloth. The weather affects our work a lot, especially when we need things to dry in the sun. We are not a big company with a board of directors or anything like that. It is just us and a few local workers who have learned the trade over time. The temple across the way is a good landmark, and we often hear the bells ringing during the day. We do not have a showroom or anything fancy. People just come to the workshop if they need us. It is a bit dusty and the roof might leak a tiny bit when it pours, but it is our place. We just keep the tradition going as best as we can.
