Akhshat Ice Cream

Being right next to the Government Girls School in Manasa means we are never really alone during the day. At Akhshat Ice Cream, we’re located on the Mandsaur Road, so there is a lot of traffic passing by all day long. Neemuch is a busy area and we are right in the thick of it. The sound of the school kids during their breaks is something we’ve gotten used to over the years. We spend a lot of time just keeping the shop tidy because the dust from the road really gets everywhere if you don't stay on top of it. It’s a simple setup we have here. We don't do anything too crazy, just serve up ice cream to anyone who stops in for a break. The evenings are usually the busiest when families are out for a walk or people are heading home from work. I spend a lot of time checking the compressors because if they fail in this heat, we’re in big trouble. It’s not a high-tech operation, just some good freezers and a few chairs for people to sit on for a few minutes. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late because of the road conditions, and we just have to make do with what we have. We’ve been part of the Manasa landscape for a while now. Most people know the shop by its location near the school. We don't put on airs or try to be something we’re not. We just keep the lights on.
