About Vava Hollow Bricks – Building & Construction Material in Nedumangad
If you go past the M T Hall in Pazhakutty, you will find Vava Hollow Bricks at house number 61. We are right in that neighborhood, and most folks around here know us for the grey blocks we make. We have a small yard where the machines run for most of the morning. The sound of the mixer is pretty constant once we get started. We make hollow bricks which are lighter but still strong enough for the local houses. It is a wet and messy job, especially when we are mixing the concrete. We have a few guys who help with the molding and the stacking. Once the bricks are set, they sit out in the sun to cure for a while. We don't have a big corporate structure. It is more like a family operation where everyone knows their job. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, which gives us a chance to have some tea and talk. We don't have a fancy showroom. The bricks are right there in the yard for anyone to see. People drive their small trucks right up to the piles and we help them load up. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn until the evening. The air usually smells like wet cement and damp earth. We like being part of the local building scene here in the village. It is just a simple business without any big secrets or complicated plans for the future.
