Umiya Auto is our small place in Madhapar, out here in the Kachchh district. You can find us tucked away near Station Road, which stays pretty busy with people heading toward the trains. We have been operating out of this spot for a good while now. It is mostly about keeping the local vehicles running. Around here, the dust and heat can be tough on engines, so we stay busy with the usual wear and tear. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a garage with enough room for a few cars and a lot of spare parts. We keep the shelves lined with whatever we can get our hands on that people might need in a hurry. Sometimes the wind picks up and blows the sand in, but we just sweep it out and keep going. We are a small team, mostly just locals who grew up in the area and know how to fix things. We don't have a big office or a receptionist; you usually just walk in and find someone under a hood or behind the counter. We take our lunch breaks together when things quiet down in the afternoon. People from all over the district stop by when they are passing through Madhapar. It's practical work. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because that's not what the customers are here for. They just want their vehicles to work so they can get back on the road. We stay open until late evening most days.
