Our place is located out at the 34Km Milestone on the road between Bhuj and Bhachau. We are right in Village Kanaiyabe, which is part of the Kachchh district. It is a bit out of the way, surrounded by a lot of open land and the dry heat this region is known for. We make auto components here, mostly focusing on things like wheels and other pressed parts for trucks. The plant is quite large because the stuff we make takes up a lot of room. Since we are a bit far from the main city, many of us commute together or stay nearby. The wind blows a lot of dust across the road, so we are always cleaning the equipment. It is a very practical setup. We have the big presses in one section and the paint shop in another. We don't have much in the way of fancy amenities out here. There is a canteen where we all eat together, and that is where most of the news travels. We work in shifts because the demand for truck parts doesn't really stop. Living and working in Kachchh means you have to be a bit tough and handle the weather. We just keep our heads down and make sure the components we send out are up to the mark. It’s a quiet life out on the highway, just focused on the day's production and getting home.
