Indian Red Cross Society

We are situated at B K Shah Red Cross Bhavan, right opposite the Marolia Hospital. It’s a well-known building in this part of town. Working here at the Indian Red Cross Society means you see a lot of different people every day. Some are looking for help, and others are just passing through. The office feels lived-in. There are old wooden cabinets and stacks of forms that never seem to go away. Since we are right across from the hospital, there is always an ambulance siren or the sound of people walking by. It keeps us on our toes. We don’t have any fancy mission statements on the walls. Mostly just some calendars and notes pinned up. The building has that old-school feel to it, maybe a bit dusty in the corners, but it serves its purpose. We spend our time answering calls and trying to coordinate things as they come up. It’s not always smooth. Sometimes the phone lines act up or we run out of supplies. We just manage with what we have at the moment. The staff here has been around for a long time, so we know the routine inside out. It is a very practical environment. We don't worry about being polished. We just try to stay on top of the work that comes through the door. It is about getting through the day and making sure the important things are finished before we lock up the Bhavan for the evening.
