If you come down to R-20/1 in the GIDC area, you’ll find us. It’s a sawmill, so there is always a bit of dust in the air and the sound of machinery. We’ve been at this spot for years. The GIDC is a busy place, lots of trucks and people moving around all day long. Vrundavan Saw Mill is basically just a big shed with the saws and the wood stacked up wherever we can find room. It gets pretty loud when the blades are running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. We work with different types of wood depending on what’s available. Some days it’s hectic with orders piling up, and other days we’re just doing maintenance on the equipment. The smell of fresh cut timber is something you never really get tired of. It’s hard work, and your hands get rough, but it’s what we do. We aren’t a big company with fancy offices. We have a small desk in the corner for the bills, but mostly we are out on the floor. People know us around here because we’ve been at R-20/1 for so long. The weather affects us quite a bit, especially when it rains and we have to cover everything up fast. It’s just a normal day-to-day grind for us. We keep the machines oiled and the wood moving. That is about it. It is not always easy, but it is our living.
