Hydrotonics Industries

Our place, Hydrotonics Industries, takes up two plots, No. 81 and 82, here in the GIDC. Having the extra space really helps us because we have some larger equipment that wouldn’t fit in a single small unit. It is a bit of a walk from one end of the shop to the other when you are looking for a specific wrench or tool. The yard is usually full of raw materials or finished parts waiting for the local crane to arrive. We have been operating out of this spot for a very long time. The walls have a few cracks and the paint is definitely peeling in the corners, but the machines inside are kept in very good shape. That is what matters most to us at the end of the day. We don't bother with fancy lobby furniture or putting air conditioning in the main work area. We just open up the big metal shutters to let the breeze in, though it is usually more of a warm industrial wind than a cool one. Our workers are like family to us; we have seen their children grow up over the years. We don't have any big marketing plans or sales brochures. Most of our customers come by word of mouth or because they saw our sign while driving through the estate. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks. If an order is finally ready, we call the client and they come pick it up. It is a very manual, hands-on kind of business.
