If you head into the GIDC Estate, you’ll find us at Plot No. 2402 and 2404. We’ve got two plots right next to each other because we eventually needed the extra room for all the metal we keep on hand. Jacob Metal Alloys Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a long time, and the whole estate has changed quite a bit since we first moved in. There’s always the sound of metal hitting metal or machines humming in the background of everything we do. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months when the sun beats down on the metal roof. We don't have much in the way of cooling in the main work areas, so we just keep the big bay doors open and hope for a little breeze to come through. The floor is usually covered in scrap and metal shavings, though we try to sweep it up when we have a spare moment. Dealing with alloys is tricky sometimes, getting the mix right and making sure the quality is good enough for the people buying it from us. We have a small office tucked in the corner where the phone rings more than it probably should. The guys who work here have been with us for years, so we all know how the machines are supposed to sound when they’re running right. It’s just an industrial life, really. We just make sure the orders are ready when the trucks pull up.
