Jain Bakery

Jain Bakery is tucked into the Ruparel Garden complex over in Sector-23. We started this out of a smaller space and now we operate from D-501. It’s not a big shopfront with glass displays on a main road, so you have to know where you're going. Most people find us by the smell of bread baking in the early morning. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen area, dealing with heavy flour bags and ovens that never seem to cool down. It gets pretty warm in there, especially when we have several batches of biscuits going at once. We don't do those overly decorated cakes you see in magazines. Ours are simple, the kind you have with tea or for a small family birthday. Sometimes the crust comes out a bit darker than we planned, but people seem to like it that way. We get our supplies delivered every few days—yeast, sugar, and big tubs of butter. It’s a lot of manual work, kneading dough and cleaning up spilled flour. The neighbors know us well, and sometimes they drop by just to see what’s fresh out of the oven. We don't have a fancy delivery fleet, just a couple of local guys who know the streets. We try to keep things consistent, though every day feels a little different depending on the humidity and the oven. It’s a messy, busy, but good way to spend the day.
