Laxmi Gears

Our office is over at D/291 in the MIDC area, right by Turbhe Naka. It’s inside the K A Patil Compound in Ganesh Nagar, not far from Pfizer Road. Laxmi Gears isn't hard to find if you know the compound. It’s a pretty busy spot with a lot of small businesses packed together. The space is mostly filled with gear-cutting machines and stacks of metal rounds. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we have a couple of big fans that mostly just move the warm air around. There is always a layer of fine metal shavings on the floor, no matter how much we sweep. We aren't corporate people. We wear work clothes and usually have grease under our fingernails. The phone rings a lot, and someone usually has to shout to be heard over the machinery. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most people just know us from being in the area for so long. We drink a lot of tea and try to get the work finished before it gets too dark. The road outside is often dusty from all the construction and trucks going to the larger factories nearby. It's just a regular gear shop where we work hard and try to keep things moving along. It’s not about being the biggest name, just about getting the teeth on the gears cut right so they fit. We close up late and come back and do it all over again the next day.
