If you are looking for us, we are tucked away in the RCT Mall Industrial Estate, specifically in unit B-102. Ghatkopar gets really busy, especially during the peak hours, so most of us try to get to the estate before the main rush starts. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you step into our space. We have rolls of it stacked against the back wall, different colors and thicknesses just waiting to be cut. It is a bit cramped inside because we have the stitching machines lined up along the windows to catch the natural light. Rajiv is usually around, often wearing his old apron, checking the edges of the pieces we’ve finished. We don’t have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a place where work happens. The industrial estate has a lot of other units too, so there is always a bit of a buzz with people moving trolleys and shouting to each other across the corridor. Sometimes the lift in the mall area is slow, so we end up taking the stairs. It keeps us moving. We’ve been in this B-102 spot for a while now and the floor has those scuff marks from years of moving heavy tables. We just keep our heads down and work on the orders as they come in. It is a simple life and we like the feeling of the leather in our hands.
