Working out of Koperkharine is pretty quiet most of the time. We aren’t a big studio with hundreds of employees; it’s just a small group of us doing animation and digital art. Most of our days are spent sitting in front of screens, drawing and moving things frame by frame. It takes a lot of time and coffee to get things looking right. Our space isn't very formal. There are wires everywhere and a few desks pushed together. We don’t really have a storefront where people walk in off the street. Most of what we do is done online, but we are definitely based here in the neighborhood. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet acts up, which is a real pain when you’re trying to meet a deadline. We just like making things move. It’s a bit of a strange way to make a living, but it suits us. We don’t have fancy meetings or suits. Usually, we’re just in t-shirts, focused on whatever project is on the computer. Koperkharine is a good place to be because it’s not as chaotic as some other parts of the city. We can just focus on the work. It’s hard work and the hours can get pretty long, especially when we’re finishing up a piece of animation. We just take it day by day, keep drawing, and make sure we get the frames finished before the sun comes up.
