Hind Fiber Fabricator

Our workshop for Hind Fiber Fabricator is in Room No. 11 at Vasant Nike Chawl in Kopper Khernai. It’s a humble spot in the Bankoli Goan area. Working with fiber means there’s always a bit of dust in the air and the smell of resin, but we’re used to it. The chawl is a tight-knit place, so everyone knows when we’re busy fabrication because of the noise. We don’t have a big factory floor, just this room and a bit of space outside where we can lay things out when the weather is good. It’s very much a hands-on operation. My hands are usually covered in something by the end of the shift. We do a lot of custom work, so every day is a little different depending on what someone has asked us to build. We don’t have a secretary or a formal reception. If you come by, you’ll likely find us in the middle of a project, wearing our old work clothes. The neighborhood is quiet in some ways but the local shops around Bankoli keep it feeling alive. We take our breaks sitting on the bench outside, watching the world go by for a few minutes before getting back to the fiber sheets. It’s not a glamorous job, but we like the feeling of actually making something with our hands. It’s just a small shop in Kopper Khernai.
