Ronak Pesticides

Out here in Naswadi, we run Ronak Pesticides. It is a small shop that focuses on things farmers need to keep their crops healthy. We have rows of plastic bottles and bags of supplies stacked up along the walls. The smell inside is a bit strong sometimes because of the chemicals, so we keep the front door wide open to let the air in. Most of our customers are farmers from the surrounding villages who come into town on their tractors or motorcycles. We know when the planting season is starting because the shop gets very busy all of a sudden. We don't have a computer to keep track of sales; we just use a big paper notebook and a calculator. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time talking to the farmers about their fields and what kind of bugs they are seeing this year. We are not experts, but we have been doing this long enough to know what usually works. The shop is a bit old, and the roof leaks a little when it rains really hard, but we just put a bucket under it and keep going. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights. People just know we are here in Naswadi when they need something for their farm. It’s a steady job and we like being part of the community. We stay open as long as there are people needing things.
