If you’re driving near the Asaram Ashram in Nashik, you might see Anmol Residency. That’s where we are, in Office number 3. We go by Tcnm Empowerment Foundation. It sounds like a big name, but we’re a small group. We work on helping people stand on their own feet. That usually means helping them learn a skill or find a way to earn a bit of money. We don’t have a lot of resources. Most of what we have comes from our own pockets or small donations from people we know. It’s a bit of a struggle sometimes to keep the lights on, but we manage. Nashik is a good place to be, and the people here are hardworking. We just try to give them a little push in the right direction. We don't use big words or have complicated programs. If someone needs to learn how to sew or use a computer, we try to find a way to teach them. Our office is usually full of papers and half-finished projects. It’s a bit messy, but it’s real. We spend our days talking to people and trying to figure out what they actually need, rather than what we think they need. It’s slow work and you have to be patient. We aren't in a hurry. We just want to do a decent job for the people around here.
