Shree Samartha Hospital

Our hospital is situated inside the Sanap Complex in Manmad. If you know the town, you know the complex is a pretty central place to be. Manmad is famous for the railway, and that energy definitely carries over to our daily life here. We get all sorts of people walking in, from railway workers to farmers from the outskirts. The hospital isn't very large, but we've squeezed in everything we need to function properly. The walls are painted a light color to try and make it feel bigger. We have a small pharmacy attached which helps because people don't have to wander around the market looking for medicines. The staff usually brings their lunch from home and we eat in a small room at the back. It’s a very local operation. We don’t use big words or have complicated systems. We just write down the names and see people in the order they arrive. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, but we have a generator that kicks in with a loud thump. It’s a bit noisy but it keeps the lights on. We’ve been in the Sanap Complex for quite some time now, so the floors are a bit worn down in the spots where people walk the most. It feels like a real part of the community. We just focus on the patients and making sure we have enough supplies for the week.
