Working in the M. I. D. C. Industrial Area in Ambad means you get used to a lot of noise and dust. Our spot at 140 to 143-A is usually a mess of metal parts and heavy tools scattered across the floor. It’s not the kind of place you’d wear nice clothes to because everything ends up with a bit of grease on it. We spend a lot of time just moving big pieces of equipment around with the cranes. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we know who likes their tea with extra sugar and who prefers to work in silence. The heat inside the shed can get pretty bad during the summer months, but we just open all the doors and hope for a breeze. There’s always someone hammering something or the sound of a grinder going off in the background. We don't really have a fancy front office; it's mostly just a desk near the entrance where we keep the registers and the keys. When a big order for mining gear comes in, the whole place gets even more crowded and we have to be careful where we step. It’s a lot of physical work, and by the end of the shift, everyone is ready to head home. We just try to keep the machines running and the floor clear enough to walk through. It's a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the bolts are tight.
